Cricket wisdom

The first testicular guard was used in cricket in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974.

It took 100 years for men to realize that the brain is also important!

Our national anthem - how much we really know

>
> Did you know the following about our national anthem, I didn't.
>
> To begin with, India 's national anthem, Jana Gana Mana
> Adhinayaka, was written by Rabindranath Tagore in honor of
> King George V and the Queen of England when they visited
> India in 1919. To honor their visit Pandit Motilal Nehru had
> the five stanzas included , which are in praise of the King
> and Queen.(And most of us think it is in the praise of our
> great motherland!! !)
>
> In the original Bengali verses only those provinces that

> recognized which are integral parts of India now Kashmir,
> Rajasthan, Andhra, Mysore or Kerala.
>
> Neither the Indian Ocean nor the Arabian Sea was included,
> since they were directly under Portuguese rule at that time.
> The Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka implies that King George V is
> the lord of the masses and Bharata Bhagya Vidhata is
> 'the bestower of good fortune'.

>
> Following is a translation of the five stanzas that glorify

> First stanza: (Indian) People wake up remembering your good

> Fifth stanza: In your compassionate plans, the sleeping
> Bharat (India) will wake up. We bow down to your feet O'

>
> This whole poem does not indicate any love for the

The hypnotist

A woman comes home and tells her husband,
"Remember those headaches I've been having all these years? Well, they're gone!"

"No more headaches?" the husband asks, "What happened?"

His wife replies, "Margie referred me to a hypnotist and he told me to stand in
front of a mirror, stare at myself and repeat,

"I do not have a headache"
"I do not have a headache"
"I do not have a headache"

"Well, it worked! The headaches are all gone."

"Well , that is wonderful" proclaims the husband.

His wife then says, "You know, you haven"t been
exactly a ball of fire in the bedroom these last few years,
why don"t you go see the hypnotist and
see if he can do anything for that?"

Reluctantly, the husband agrees to try it.

Following his appointment, the husband comes home, rips off
his clothes, picks up his wife and carries her into the bedroom.

He puts her on the bed and says, "Don"t move, I"ll be right back."

He goes into the bathroom and comes back a few minutes later,
jumps into bed and makes passionate love to his wife like never before.

His wife says, "WOW! - that was wonderful!"

The husband says, "Don"t move! I"ll be right back".

He goes back into the bathroom, comes back and round two
was even better than the first time.

The wife sits up and her head is spinning "OH MY
GOD"she proclaims.

Her husband again says, "Don"t move, I"ll be right back.."

With that, he goes back in the bathroom.

This time, his wife quietly follows him and peeks into the toilet.

The man is standing before the mirror, saying . . . .

"She"s not my wife"
"She"s not my wife"
"She"s not my wife"

Save water this Holi

Save water this Holi

Everyday we use water without a thought. World Water Day falling on Holi is a good reminder to curb water wastage during the festival of colours.

Going without water for even a day can be an ordeal for us. This Holi add colour not only to your celebration but to the world around you by saving water. So, while we prepare for the fun festival here are a few ways to save the precious life giving wonder - water!

Tips on how to save water on Holi

  • Measure the quantity of water you want to use to play with and store it. Stick to that limit. Resist the temptation of going overboard.
  • Play with dry colours
  • Use natural colours. They wash off easily.
  • Avoid playing with balloons.
  • Go for a bath only when you are done. Bathing again and again is sure water wastage.

Save water while playing Holi

  • Play in a separate area or the garden. Getting the whole house dirty will simply lead to more water usage.
  • Wear old dark coloured clothes, so cleaning them does not need too much water and effort.
  • Apply oil on your hair before stepping out to play. This will provide a protective coating over your hair. Even if you do end up getting colour in your tresses, a single wash can be enough to make your hair colour-free.
  • Shield yourself with some moisturising lotion to prevent your skin from staining. It will keep your skin hydrated and prevent it from harmful effects of colour.
  • Coat your nails with nail paint. It is the most basic form of nail care and can go a long away in keeping your nails from soiling with colours. Your nails will stay clean just like before playing Holi.
  • In case you forget to apply a body lotion and you have colour all over you then do not step under the shower immediately. Rub some coconut oil or cream and let the colour start fading. Now a quick wash will make you clean without much scrubbing. You will save water too.
  • If you are playing indoors or on the terrace, spread a tarpaulin on the floor. Once you have finished playing, you can simply wash away the colours on the tarpaulin and save using detergents on the floor.

Steps to clean the house using minimum water

After an exhausting day of celebrating Holi, cleaning is the last thing you want to do. But there is a way to do it in an efficient, effective and non-time consuming way.

  1. Fill up two buckets. One with soapy water that has stain free in it and one with plain water.
  2. Get two sponges.
  3. Wipe the coloured areas with the stain free liquid, with the help of a sponge.
  4. Now simply wipe away with plain water.
  5. Finish it with a dry wipe.

You will save a lot of water and the coloured area will be clean without much effort. Use some washing soda for cleaning stubborn stains, it works wonders! Use it sparingly though or you may end up using water unnecessarily to do away with the soapiness.

Do not forget to wear hand gloves, since stain free liquids can be harsh.

Help the environment

Is it a mere co-incidence that this year World Water Day and Holi are falling on the same day? Even if it is a co-incidence, it is time to remember that we as a planet are facing a global water shortage. Out of approximately 6.1 billion people more than 1 billion do not have access to potable water.

While so many humans combat water shortage on a daily basis, we can try to ensure that our celebrations are not insensitive. Make this Holi even more special by saving every drop you can, for whom water is a luxury. Here's wishing you a Super Happy Holi!

Can we save water during Holi? Do you save water on a daily basis? Do you think we are being insensitive by wasting water when many around the world fight for some fresh water to drink? To share your views and experiences, click here.

Subject: LAST CALL FOR TAROT!MAYBE MY LAST WORKSHOP FOR A WHILE!
To: Undisclosed-Recipient

Dearest all
Last call to join the current new tarot batch!
Sending this as so many are suddenly enquiring via sms/emails and calls...!
And for those who asked, yes I guess I will take a few more tarot workshops down the line, but as I am  feeling drawn to reducing my classes... the  gaps maybe longer and frequency certainly less...
Love Divyaa

TAROT WORKSHOP March 14th-to April 16th

In-depth exploration of the meanings, symbols and spiritual secrets contained within the cards enables you use the tarot in many ways. Discover how they can be a spiritual journey, a counseling tool to 'know thyself', a best friend giving you upfront guidance or a compass pointing to probabilities ahead!

Read them for self or others in empowering ways.

We begin the class with two power point presentations, the first touches upon the many frequently asked questions about how and why tarot works; the second explores the deeper spiritual meaning of tarot; The next few weeks understand each card in detail- its symbols and meanings and how to use it for practical or deeper readings because my personal philosophy is that it is this foundation that helps us read the cards better in the longer run. All of this is interspersed with examples from case histories and personal experiences over the years. Thus at every card we run through a gamut of examples from day-to-day life- bringing the cards alive…and out of text book understanding! I further   introduce you on how to use the cards for magic or manifestation and how birth details can enhance readings.  All this leads up to a range of actual spreads suitable for different kinds of readings- and then to actual practice…tarot sessions… with each other… and how to trigger off your inner guidance system or intuition! The course prepares you to read the cards for others (and self) in ways which empower them rather then encourage them into being   passive observers in their life events!

DATE-DAY-TIME- Ten sessions- March 14th-to April 16th –Twice a week- Thursday and Saturday -2 - 5 pm - ENERGY EXCHANGE- RS 5100  (includes two booklets of meanings and detailed notes) VENUE: Worli- near mela restaurant- More details and student feedback is available on my website www.divyaakummar.com in Dvyalok workshop section. For further information or registration please email me or call on 9821180556 between 4-8 pm

Love from my heart to yours
Divyaa Kummar
Authentic divination is not about the future but about bringing clarity and insight to the present moment! ‘Clairvoyance’ literally means clear seeing, and ‘divination’ literally means knowing the divine being withinand thus their real power lays in helping you deeply understand current self !

Goan Joke

-----------------------------------------

Ninoshka Cardoso was seated in the front seat of the Dona Paula to
Panjim city bus and badly needed to fart. The music was really loud so
she decided that if she timed her farts to the beat nobody would
notice.

After a couple of songs she started to feel much relieved.

Ninoshka saw that her Kala Academy bus stop was approaching and got up
to alight. A slight tug at her ear reminded her that she was listening
to her I-pod. With trepidation she gingerly turned around to see a bus
load of grinning faces.
